Wolfratshausen – The equipment house of the Weidach volunteer fire department is being upgraded and expanded.
As reported, the city council's building committee provided around 2.6 million euros for the measures.
The head of the town hall, Klaus Heilinglechner (BVW), has now announced good news: the volunteers want to contribute extensively to the project themselves.
That could go easy on the city coffers.
Praise for the defense from all city council factions
In the most recent meeting of the building committee in the town hall, there was great joy: "That is very commendable," said Gerlinde Berchtold (SPD) with a view to the fire brigade's offer.
"Very, very commendable," said the spokesman for the BVW parliamentary group, Josef Praller, "that's what makes a municipality what it is." the city.

Renate Tilke, deputy chairwoman of the CSU parliamentary group, expressed the hope "that other clubs would follow suit".
Altogether, as the commander of the Weidacher weir, civil engineer Robert Buxbaum, informed Mayor Heilinglechner, who was also the property planner for the project, the volunteers would take 14 measures into their own hands.
This includes clearing work, tiling work, the conversion of the existing classroom into a parlor and a youth room, the conversion of the washroom into a shower, the dismantling and conversion of the breathing protection chamber, the construction and furnishing of the lockers and painting work.
"Of course, the city has to provide the material for this," added Heilinglechner, himself a member of the Weidacher fire brigade.
"The use of machines is almost completely covered by the members."
What about the warranty?
Of course, everything has to be in order: The construction workers in the ranks of the firefighters "are covered by the statutory accident insurance," emphasized the head of the town hall.
Commander Buxbaum will integrate his own work into his construction schedule, coordinate the execution and monitor the proper completion of the work.
And who assumes the warranty in the worst case?
Richard Kugler (Wolfratshauser Liste) was able to allay concerns about this.
On the one hand, many active people have specialist knowledge or are craftsmen by trade - and if a mistake actually happens: the fire brigade will iron it out, "because nobody wants to lose face there".
Under no circumstances should you save on snacks
Green City Councilor Schmidt was of the opinion that in view of the personal contribution "the total investment would have to be reduced".
However, Thomas Wenig from the City Hall Department for Planning and Environment urgently advised against the “reduction in the budget for this project” he proposed.
It is pure conjecture that the million-dollar project will become cheaper thanks to the volunteers - "because prices are currently tumbling around again," reported the architect.
City hall chief Heilinglechner said that Schmidt's advance only caused him to "shake his head".
If, due to “fortunate circumstances”, “perhaps something is left over”, says the mayor, “then the money goes back into the budget”.
City councilors Tilke and Kugler emphasized that under no circumstances should you skimp on a snack for the firefighters.
The members of the building committee interpreted the smile of the head of the Wolfratshausen town hall as a commitment.
