High above Dorfen: New radio tower with a view

A new Telekom transmission mast is being built near Watzling.

It is intended to significantly improve the mobile network in the Dorfen area.

The foundation has already been poured.

Dorfen – The construction work for the new cell phone site in Dorfen has started.

A 35 meter high steel lattice mast will be enthroned above Watzling on the A 94 - with a view over the Isental.

The foundation has already been concreted, now it's time to go up.

The mast is intended to improve mobile phone quality in the eastern district of Erding.

“More and more people are surfing the web at the same time.

They exchange photos and videos or work on the go.

That's why we're constantly increasing the speed and capacity of our network," said Walter Goldenits of Telekom in a press release.

The radio mast is being built by Deutsche Funkturm on behalf of Telekom.

"Dorfen will get a modern and future-proof mobile communications site," says Bruno Jacobfeuerborn, Managing Director of Deutsche Funkturm, for the project.

Great importance was attached to dimensioning the mast in such a way that, in addition to Telekom customers, other mobile phone providers can also benefit from the improved network.

As a result, "no additional masts would have to be erected," says Jacobfeuerborn.

As a rule, a site goes into operation six to twelve months after the start of construction, according to the press release.

The cell phone mast in Dorfen is also suitable for sending 5G services in the future.

Incidentally, the Telekom subsidiary Deutsche Funkturm is always looking for locations for new masts.
