Israel is preparing to absorb about 100,000 immigrants from Ukraine, Russia and the countries of the region under the Law of Return - according to data and messages presented to ministers today (Monday) during the cabinet meeting.

Government data show that since the outbreak of the war, about 8,500 Ukrainian citizens have arrived in Israel, including about 3,200 new immigrants.

At the meeting, the ministers debated the issue of the absorption of refugees from Ukraine and the outline presented by Interior Minister Ayelet Shaked.

Minister of the Environment Tamar Zandberg flooded the issue of work permits for refugees and said that some of them have no food.

"We need an immediate solution beyond host families," she said.

Prime Minister Naftali Bennett clarified in response: "There will be humanitarian aid - not beyond."

Minister of Immigration and Absorption Pnina Tamano Sheta raised the issue of the absorption of those entitled to the Law of Return from Ethiopia, where fighting has been taking place in the Tagara district for several years.

"None of the voices here have compensated here for those entitled to the Law of Return from Ethiopia," Tamano Sheta said at the meeting. "It's just the hypocrisy of the white man."

Economy Minister Orna Barbibai denied her remarks and begged her to back down, but Tamano Sheta replied: "Do not say that is not true. What to do, there is racism."

Some of the ministers came out against the criticism voiced by some of the government ministers towards the refugee absorption policy.

Agriculture Minister Oded Forer said: "It is enough to hit on sin, government ministers explaining what is not good. Maybe the word quotas should not have been used but we do more than any other country that has no direct border with Ukraine. Britain has absorbed only 1,000 refugees. Interior Minister Shaked supported Forer's remarks: "The government and the ministers should boast and praise the absorption operation.

No other country absorbs on such a scale.

We do not have to talk negatively all the time, there is something to be proud of. "

Finance Minister Avigdor Lieberman added:" When Israel was under fire, I did not see that Europe was in our favor.

We are making a supreme effort. "Diaspora Minister Nachman Shai, one of the most prominent critics of the outline, said that a permanent immigration policy should be established for Israel."

Communications Minister Yoaz Handel responded: We have a policy, called the Law of Return.

To this, Minister Shai replied: "We need a policy for times of war."

Interior Minister Shaked explained the change in the quota policy and the exclusion of relatives from the quotas and said: "If it is a third cousin it will not be approved."

Housing Minister Zeev Elkin replied, "But that's what was set, what do you mean, so what's the policy?"

Shaked: "Grandpa yes, brother yes, third cousin looks according to requests."

Elkin and the Minister of Transportation, Rabbi Michaeli, responded: "What kind of policy is this? 'We see', we do not know of such a policy."
