A statement issued by the ministry and reported by TASS said that Lavrov and Abdollahian will pay special attention to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action on Iran's nuclear program in the context of the talks that reached the finish line in Vienna, and the current situation in Ukraine in light of the Russian military operation there will be discussed.
The statement said: The two ministers are expected to discuss a political settlement of the crisis in Syria and other regional issues, including the situation in the Caspian Sea, Afghanistan, Transcaucasia, the Gulf region, Yemen and the settlement in the Middle East.
In its statement, the ministry affirmed that the development of Russian-Iranian cooperation will continue despite Western sanctions against Russia, and we intend to expand mutually beneficial relations with Iran in the interest of regional stability and international security.
"We count on strengthening positive trends in all areas of Russian-Iranian cooperation," the ministry said, noting that the aggressive steps taken by Western countries to add illegal restrictive measures against our country will not prevent Russia from maintaining its intention to gradually strengthen the multifaceted partnership with Iran.
