The subway between Goetheplatz and Implerstrasse in Munich has been closed since Monday.

Lines U3 and U6 are affected.

The reason is a major construction site in the area of Implerstrasse.

We explain how to avoid the lock.

There, the Munich Transport Company (MVG) is renewing points, crossings and rails.

The construction work is expected to last until June 19th.

During the closure, the MVG uses buses for passengers between Goetheplatz and Implerstraße. An overview of the various offers on the individual lines.

•

U3:

This line runs every six to seven minutes in the south between Fürstenried West and Brudermühlstraße.

In the north, the U3 runs from Moosach every ten minutes to Sendlinger Tor, during rush hour between Olympiazentrum and Münchner Freiheit.

In off-peak times, the U3 even runs to Goetheplatz.

In order to keep rail replacement traffic to a minimum, the

replacement bus line U3

, coming from Brudermühlstraße, runs from Goetheplatz to the main station (bus stop on the south side in Bayerstraße) and thus offers a large number of transfer options to the underground lines U1, U2, U4, U5, U7 and U8, to the tram and to the S-Bahn main line.

 U6:

This line runs in the south from Klinikum Großhadern to Implerstraße – sometimes at intervals of up to eight minutes.

On the northern branches of the line, the U6 runs continuously between Garching Research Center and Goetheplatz every five to ten minutes.

The

replacement bus line U6

will be set up as a ring line from Implerstraße via Poccistraße to Goetheplatz and via the Tumblingerstraße bus stop back to Implerstraße.

•

Frequency increase on existing lines:

During the construction period,

line X30

will be extended from the “Am Harras” stop via Schwanthalerhöhe, Trappentreustrasse and Donnersbergerbrücke to Rotkreuzplatz, enabling transfers to the S-Bahn, U-Bahn and tram.

To the east, the X30 also offers the usual direct connections to Giesing, Ostbahnhof and Arabellapark.

The X30 runs every five minutes between Rotkreuzplatz and Ostbahnhof every day except Sundays and public holidays.

On the

MetroBus route 63

, booster buses are used between Aidenbachstraße, Westpark and Donnersbergerbrücke on weekdays during the day.

As a result, there is also a five-minute cycle on this route, which can be used as a bypass to the closed subway route, from Monday to Friday during the day.

Another alternative: the MVG Rad rental bike offer. If you return your bike to the bike stations at Brudermühlstraße, Implerstraße, Kreisverwaltungsreferat, Goetheplatz or Sendlinger Tor, you will automatically receive a credit for ten free minutes.
