Prepare for any scenario: The police will increase their strength during the holiday, and mark their police officers with a special bracelet.

There probably has never been such a holiday before: before Purim, the police are stepping up their efforts, and will mark their police officers with a special bracelet so that the public can distinguish between a real police officer on duty and a person in disguise.

Reason to speak: In April last year, a civilian was murdered in Netivot by two people disguised as police officers.

A senior police official told Israel Today that "in recent years there have been several incidents in which civilians in the guise of police officers have managed to deceive other civilians, and certainly on Purim it becomes even more valid."

The police are preparing for Purim events all over the country, with an emphasis on securing educational institutions, adlaide processions, parties and enforcing drunkenness on the roads.

The police have divided the focus of organizational attention so that the first is counterterrorism, the second is public order events, including demonstrations and protests that will force the allocation of additional forces, and the third is Purim events, parties and processions.

The police take into account that this year there will be more people at the Purim events, because in the last two years there have been no gatherings due to the spread of the corona virus, but perhaps in light of the winter weather - fewer people will leave the house.

Will prevent the next disaster?

This year, the police decided to award a special bracelet, with the caption "Israel Purim Police 2022", and with a police emblem. The bracelet will be worn by all the thousands of police officers and fighters who will be working during the holiday.

The bracelet is meant to be a hallmark that it is really a policeman, not a person in disguise.

As mentioned, in April 2021 a man in Netivot was murdered by two people in police uniforms.

Police fear that this year, too, citizens will take advantage of the holiday, disguise themselves as police officers and commit acts of fraud or robbery.

Israel Today has learned that in a special assessment of the situation of the Commissioner of Police, Chief of Staff Yaakov Shabtai, he was presented with all the preparations of the police districts, with each district reinforced by thousands of police and border fighters, with an emphasis on the Jerusalem and Tel Aviv districts.

We are expected to see the large presence of police forces and the concentration of public effort from Wednesday to Sunday morning, when Purim parties will take place on Saturday evenings.

In assessing the situation, members of the Operations Division claimed that the biggest challenge is the transition from routine to emergency, and this is emphasized by the police, with besieged orders for each scenario and additional forces on standby.

Extensive preparations for the holiday

The commissioner stressed to the district commanders that they should focus on enforcing drug trafficking, selling alcohol to minors and seizing dangerous and explosive toys, which could lead to serious injuries.

At the same time, the police uploaded to the social networks an informational video about the use of explosives, with the caption: "Parents, pay attention - this is not a children's game."

The video has very high viewing figures, of more than 600,000 views and about 3,000 shares.
