Independence Day is approaching, and this year too it coincides with the holidays of Israel's Muslim and Christian citizens, while President Yitzhak (Buzi) Herzog and Justice Minister Gideon Saar want to remind the general public in Israel of the possibility of applying for pardon.
The requests will be examined by the President in the spirit of these holidays and according to the policy that significant weight is given to rehabilitation and change processes, especially among young people, in order to remove employment barriers and help them reintegrate into society.

The President's policy in the field of pardon authority, numerical data on all decisions made by the President so far and the main characteristics of his decisions are published on the President's website, as part of the transparency policy announced by the President, shortly after taking office.
Where to send the request?
The application must be submitted via an online form on the website of the President's House or on the website of the Pardons Department of the Ministry of Justice.

What should a request include?
Pardon requests must be submitted by the convict or his attorney, or through a first-degree family member.
Personal and contact details must be attached to the application;
Details of the offense and the court decision;
A detailed letter outlining the reasons for the request, including personal circumstances and rehabilitation proceedings, as well as any additional document substantiating the reasons for the request.
Closed police files:
In closed police files (police registration), which did not lead to the filing of an indictment and sentencing in a criminal case, the authority to cancel the registration belongs to the Israel Police and not to the President of the State, and you can contact the Criminal Information Section of the Israel Police by phone 02-5429757, 02-5429672 or fax 02-5429144 or by e-mail: bitul-rishum@police.gov.il.
