The top 10 most popular travel destinations among Germans at Easter

Do you want to go on holiday at Easter, but don't know where to go yet?
Many Germans booked early – read here which travel destinations are particularly popular.
Easter is the perfect time to enjoy spring and warmer weather.
Some end up in the sunny south, while others prefer to stay close to home.
The good thing about this year is that many holiday destinations relaxed their corona rules a few weeks ago* and now allow easier entry.
This has also increased interest in holidays abroad, as an analysis of 2.2 million search queries by the holiday home booking
portal HomeToGo
shows.
Easter vacation 2022: These are the ten most popular travel destinations
First of all:
In 2022, too, most Germans seem to be
interested in vacationing at home
.
In the search period from January 1, 2022 to February 28, 2022,
52.4 percent
of users searched for holidays in Germany during the Easter period.
The classic travel destinations of the Baltic Sea, North Sea and Bavaria are particularly popular.
Compared to the previous year, however, Germany has lost around 28 percent of search queries.
Instead, this year there is more interest in a holiday in the
Netherlands
(9.79 percent) or
Denmark
(7.32 percent), which take 2nd and 3rd place in the ranking.
Also
Italy
,
Spain
and
France
were able to record more search queries compared to 2021.

Germany remains the most popular holiday destination at Easter 2022 - with small losses
The booking data does not reveal why holidays abroad are becoming more popular again this year.
However, the
relaxed corona measures
in many countries are likely to play a role.
Denmark was one of the first countries* to announce
Freedom Day
, i.e. the end of all measures.
The rules were also relaxed in the Netherlands in February.
Germany, on the other hand, will not let most of the Corona rules expire until March 20th.
