Next Thursday, the activities of the Syria History and Civilizations Festival will be launched at Dummar Central Incubator for Craft Arts, organized by the General Union of Craftsmen in cooperation with the Al-Majed Development Foundation and the Bemo Saudi Fransi Microfinance Bank, with the participation of more than 60 craftsmen and Sheikh Kar.
The festival’s activities include daily seminars and workshops for participating crafts such as copperplates, woodcarving, fashion design, orientals, and others, with the aim of introducing the export prospects available to owners of crafts and handicrafts, ways to obtain financing for small projects, and training courses, in addition to heritage parties and honoring the productive craftsmen of the families of the martyrs and the wounded of the army.
President of the General Union of Craftsmen, Naji Al-Hadawa, pointed out during a press conference the importance of the festival in highlighting the cultural and artisanal heritage that exists in Syria and the role of the incubator in the training, rehabilitation, production and marketing processes, pointing out that the union will work to market the products of craftsmen by opening marketing centers in some friendly countries and organizing External exhibitions.
Director of the Al-Majed Foundation for Development, Dr. Majid Al-Raqbi, indicated that the role of the Foundation is to create training and rehabilitation opportunities according to high standards and open export markets through strategic partnerships with donors to finance small projects, pointing out that the support will be directed to all professionals and craftsmen, especially those involved in the reconstruction process.
For his part, Ali Aswad, Operations Manager at Banque Bemo Saudi Fransi for Microfinance, explained that microfinance banks will be tantamount to government and private banks, due to their flexibility in terms of determinants that target a large segment of small producers, small business owners, and those with limited and no income by granting them operational loans.
Incubator Director Louay Shakou stated that the festival will include seminars for the Local Production and Export Support and Development Authority in order to provide craftsmen with information that helps them in the process of promoting their products, importing their raw materials and keeping pace with the times in electronic promotion.
The festival continues until the end of this month, every day from two in the afternoon until nine in the evening.
