Inside the building that Iran attacked in Iraq is an Israeli training facility, a senior American official told the New York Times this evening (Tuesday).
According to the publication, the building damaged by Iran's missile attack also served as Israel's training facility, and was the target of the Revolutionary Guards, who ignored its proximity to the US Consulate.
Yesterday, it was claimed in Tehran that the attack was aimed at "secret Israeli bases" in the area.
The Revolutionary Guards yesterday claimed responsibility for the missile attack in Iraq, during which at least 12 missiles were fired at the US Consulate in Arbil, the capital of the Kurdish region in the north of the country.

After the attack, the Iranians said it was destined for "secret Israeli bases" in the area and threatened Israel that it would respond with a "harsh, decisive and destructive" response if it attacked its forces again.
This, after last week two Revolutionary Guards officers were killed in an attack in Syria, which was attributed to Israel.
A U.S. State Department spokesman said it was an "outrageous attack," but said there were no U.S. casualties and no damage was done to U.S. facilities in Arbil.
U.S. forces stationed at the international airport complex in the region have previously been attacked by rockets or drones launched by U.S. officials by pro-Iranian militias. However, in recent months, calm has been maintained in the area.
