Officially, Alexeï* is on leave.
Like all of his compatriots fighting for France, the Foreign Legion gave this Ukrainian soldier two weeks so that he could join his family at the border fleeing his native country at war.
In reality, the young man, who has served the French army for more than five years, has deserted.
According to his wife Louise*, he has even already joined the regular army of Ukraine.
“He is in Kiev, with other friends from the Legion and former brothers in arms who left everything to fight
,” she confides.
“My husband is from the east of the country and cannot join his family.
It would be a suicide mission as the war is raging there.
I don't even know how he reached Kiev, but everything was framed thanks to a network that was waiting for him there
,” explains this young French woman.
