"I will not give up," wrote a 10-year-old girl who came to Israel with her mother from the war in Ukraine.

The girl and the mother arrived at a hotel in Nof HaGalil yesterday after a journey that has lasted several days since they left their house.

So far, dozens of families of Jews from Ukraine have come to the city and are staying at the Plaza Hotel.

Members of the "immigrant camps" movement living in the "Mish'ol" educators' kibbutz in the Galilee landscape volunteered to help and were referred by the municipality to the hotel.

"We realized that what was needed most was an activity for the children in the afternoon," said Adam Shevdron, a member of Mish'ol.

He said, "Just when we arrived yesterday, families came straight from the airport, the parents were busy at the reception and we saw that there was a great need for accompaniment and support for the children. Children from the age of one to 16 come here," he said.

"We heard from them all the hardships they went through," said Shira Tzelnik, who coordinates the activities on behalf of the kibbutz.

"It's been Tuesday we're there and we already feel a connection has been made," she added.

The counselors of Kibbutz Mish'ol are joined by students from the Atzmon Elementary School in Manof Hagalil.

For the children, some of whom themselves immigrated from Ukraine a few years ago, this is a closing circle and a place to share their experience;

"I feel like I'm doing something good, and it's a good feeling," said 13-year-old Sasha, who came to volunteer at the immigrants' reception.

"In the face of war and pain, I witnessed yesterday the immense power of girls and boys who know how to reach out and open their hearts," said Adam Shevdron.

He explained that with sixth-graders he had prepared parcels for the children and mothers from Ukraine who had come to the Galilee landscape in recent days straight out of the terrible war.

"Atzmon's children spontaneously organized an activity, the Russian speakers translated and invited the children to the hotel, played in a circle, drew. We came together - a group of children, Jews and Arabs, Russian speakers Hebrew and Arabic, and everyone speaks the heart language. The meeting was amazing in such a difficult moment," he added. .

He said that when he saw the drawing and caption of the ten-year-old girl his heart was broken.

"I hope we can make it a little easier for them, after the experiences they went through and given what else awaits them."
