Again people from the Ukraine have arrived in the district of Freising.

The district office reports on the current situation.

– The wave of refugees from Ukraine is growing rapidly and poses challenges for the authorities: “The events with which those responsible for the Ukraine coordination group and all the employees of the district office and the aid organizations involved are showing how dynamic the situation is at the moment were confronted with in the past few days," reports Susanne Zottmann, personal advisor to Freising District Administrator Helmut Petz.

In the meantime, 220 refugees from the war zone have been registered in the Freising district.

(By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)

99 of them arrived in Moosburg on Tuesday night and were initially accommodated there in the Kastulus secondary school gymnasium, which was prepared for such cases.

After 30 people had already arrived at the initial reception center on Friday, a bus with 50 other refugees was announced for Sunday morning, according to Zottmann.

“The staff for registration, the corona test and further support, accommodation and even three voluntary interpreters were organized.

But the bus didn't come."

Picked up people at Munich Central Station

So he came on Monday late in the evening.

At around 4:30 p.m., the government informed the district office that around 1,000 refugees would be “relocated” to the districts by 8 a.m. Tuesday morning and around 75 people would arrive in Freising in the course of the evening.

"We didn't know when the people would arrive, but we immediately organized everything so that the admission could go smoothly," reports Werner Wagensonner, head of the social welfare office at the district office.

Then around 8 p.m. the message: There are no more buses available in Munich.

"We then organized two buses from a local bus company that picked people up at Munich Central Station."

The refugees then reached Moosburg shortly before midnight – 99 instead of 75 in number.

The staff of the district office, who took over the registration, and an interpreter were available again to provide support.

The BRK took over the corona tests.

According to Zottmann, two people who were initially isolated with their families in the initial reception facility (gymnasium of the Moosburg town hall) tested positive again (three adults and seven children).

Pets also accepted

All other refugees remained in the gymnasium of the Moosburg Realschule next door.

"There they were fed during the night by the BRK standby Moosburg, who also provided breakfast on Tuesday morning," reports Zottmann.

At noon a caterer took over.

"We also took in two dogs and a cat," adds District Fire Councilor Manfred Danner.

The veterinary office in Freising has already initiated the tasks that arise in this regard.

Meanwhile, work at the district office on coordination as a result of the Ukraine war continues intensively.

On Monday, the management group for civil protection (FüGK) together with the support group for local operations management (UG ÖEL) set up a staff position in the monastery library.

From there, the future tasks as well as the distribution and accommodation of the people from the Ukraine are to be planned and coordinated.

"The existing disaster caused by the corona pandemic was expanded to include the crisis in Ukraine," informs Zottmann.

Since then, the two local operations managers, district fire officer Manfred Danner and local representative Michael Wüst from THW, have been responsible for coordinating the helpers from the fire brigade and THW in the district.

Since Monday, there have been daily situation meetings in order to be able to react as best as possible.

Further accommodations are being sought

It is not yet clear when the people who are now accommodated in Moosburg can move to other accommodations.

The search and examination of suitable objects continue unabated.

There are already a few places, but how long they will last remains to be seen.

To be on the safe side, the gymnasium of the Realschule Eching will also be converted into refugee accommodation with 250 beds on Tuesday evening.

Here the voluntary helpers from the fire brigade, BRK, THW and Johanniter are in demand again.

According to Zottmann, the next buses with refugees have already been announced.
