A large mourner said goodbye to Cecily Christiane Beatrice Countess von Hundt zu Lautterbach on Saturday.

She was only 48 years old.

Lauterbach

– Cecily von Hundt passed away on March 8 at the age of just 48 in the presence of her family – “after suffering in quiet humility,” as the obituary says.

The Requiem was celebrated at the request of the family by Pastor Josef Mayer from Petersberg, who had supported the deceased during her illness.

Particularly hard hit by the heavy stroke of fate were husband Dr.

Georg Graf von Hundt zu Lautterbach and the two children Josephine and Bartholomäus.

In addition to the family, numerous Lauterbach citizens took part in the funeral service.

Flag delegations from the Lauterbach volunteer fire brigade and the lads gave the deceased the last escort, and the Bergkirchen community was represented by Mayor Robert Axtner, second mayor Dagmar Wagner and Hans Groß as third mayor, as well as some local councillors.

At her husband's side, the native of Düsseldorf was a charming hostess at Lauterbach Castle, both at the numerous concerts and events as part of the Bergkirchner Kulturtage and at major family celebrations, such as the renovation of the castle chapel with the dedication of the bells in September 2017, as auxiliary bishop Bernhard Haßlberger celebrated the Holy Mass and was then invited to a white sausage breakfast in the courtyard.

Cecily von Hundt volunteered for some time at the Bergkirchner community library.

As a “specialist” she contributed her knowledge there, because she had studied librarianship, ran her own bookshop in Berlin and also worked temporarily as a journalist.

She was an avid crime reader and self-edited a number of books.

The scenes were initially the exciting New York, but also Berlin after the fall of the Wall, "to fall back on real memories, to roam through this old Berlin in my mind again," as she said in a 2017 interview with the Dachauer Nachrichten , "28 years after the fall of the Wall, no longer exists".

And then the woman from Lauterbach took a close look at the Dachau hinterland in her Bavarian thrillers.

"Of beer mugs and poison murders" is the title in which she has Lore Pfeffer investigated.

In this character she saw "certain parallels" to her own life: "I used to work as an editor myself, I'm in the middle of life, so to speak, I'm a mother and of course I have a great affinity for literature, and of course for chocolate! "

Death of Cecily Countess von Hundt zu Lautterbach: She loved Bavarian humor

And then, as a Düsseldorf resident, she took this opportunity to take a look at her perspective on Bavaria: "I think I see Bavaria with its peculiar and charming habit from a little more distance than someone who was born here.

As a Düsseldorf resident, I'm actually used to everyone chattering uninhibitedly with everyone else, and people being very carefree and free with each other.

Here in Bavaria it takes longer to see behind the facade.

But I really like the Bavarian sense of humor, and of course the landscape here is much nicer than in the Rhineland.

Overall, I feel very comfortable here."

Cecily von Hundt could hardly have given her home town a nicer compliment.

It will not only be missed by the Lauterbachers.

The urn burial takes place in the closest family circle in the family crypt in Lauterbach.
