The Farmers’ Union branch in Raqqa Governorate, in cooperation with the Directorate of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform, has finished distributing the second batch of fertilizer for the areas planted with wheat in the eastern countryside liberated from terrorism, amounting to 11,000 irrigated hectares.

Abdullah Al-Rifai, head of the Raqqa Farmers Union, said in a statement to SANA reporter that the liberated eastern countryside includes the areas of al-Sabkha and Ma’dan, where the Farmers Union has completed the distribution of all agricultural requirements to farmers, including seeds and diesel, in addition to distributing two batches of urea 46 and superphosphate 26 fertilizers at a rate of 28 kilograms per acre, pointing out The rate of implementation of wheat cultivation in those areas has reached 100 percent.

Al-Rifai indicated that the eastern countryside liberated from Raqqa is irrigated by an irrigation network of 6 thousand hectares, while the Raqqa network irrigates 5 thousand hectares.

Al-Rifai pointed out that the Raqqa network suffers from the control of the “Qasd militia” linked to the American occupation over the water sources, which deprives the farmers of benefiting from the water, calling on humanitarian organizations to help install water pumps on the river bed and directly feed the Raqqa network.
