The victim's colleague, correspondent Benjamin Hall, was also wounded and was on Tuesday being treated in hospital. This is the second death of a journalist in the conflict in just a few days

As the war in Ukraine worsens, the risks for the journalists covering the conflict rise.

US network Fox News announced on Tuesday that Pierre Zakrzewski, one of their camera operators, died hours after his vehicle was “struck by incoming fire” in Horenka, outside Kyiv on Monday.

His colleague of him, correspondent Benjamin Hall, was also wounded and was on Tuesday being treated in hospital.

There were no further details released today about his condition.

The news comes just days after the death of Brent Renaud, an American journalist and documentary director who on Sunday was shot in the neck in the town of Irpin, near the Ukrainian capital Kyiv.

He was 50 years old.

He was working in the region for

Marina Ovsyannikova: The Russian journalist who said 'no' to the war

So far, 12 journalists have died in Ukraine since 2014, the year when the conflict with Russia began in the Donbas region, in the east of the country.

Fox News Media CEO Suzanne Scott announced the death of Zakrzewski on Tuesday.

“It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that we share the news this morning regarding our beloved cameraman Pierre Zakrzewski,” she said in comments to staff that were reported by the Fox News website.

“Pierre was a war zone photographer who covered nearly every international story for Fox News from Iraq to Afghanistan to Syria during his long tenure with us,” she added.

“His passion and talent as a journalist were unmatched.”

Horrible news to report: Fox cameraman Pierre Zakrzewski was killed in the same attack that wounded correspondent Benjamin Hall.

I worked with Pierre many times around the world.

He was an absolute treasure.

Sending our most heartfelt prayers to Pierre's wife and family.
