Hartz IV critics complain about the bureaucratic hurdles at the job center.
A current case concerns a claim of five cents from the Employment Agency in the district of Erlangen-Höchstadt.
Herzogenaurach - bureaucracy in Germany is always taken to the extreme: A job center has made an absurd demand on a family that lives in Franconia and receives Hartz IV*.
The Herzogenaurach ex-city councilor Konrad Eitel (SPD) looks after the family on a voluntary basis - he tells the news
site infranken.de
that
the family received a letter requesting payment of five cents.
Hartz IV: Incomprehension about the 5-cent requirement of the job center
“Why these five cents have to be paid is not mentioned in the letter.
The job center couldn't help me either - they said the case was closed.
I should contact the responsible debt collection agency," Eitel told the news site.
Presumably it is about a corrected payment.
He criticizes the actions of the offices sharply: "It is always said that the administration has no staff, they cannot keep up and that internal bureaucracy is unnecessarily built up," says Eitel.
He informed the Bavarian government's bureaucracy officer, Walter Nussel.
"If large local companies such as Adidas or Schäffler would work like this, they would have been gone long ago," said Eitel, referring to the inefficiency of the claim to

.
Because of the current legal situation, the affected family member has to pay the five cents.
Hartz IV: The job center also wants minor limits
Jürgen Wursthorn, spokesman for the employment agency in the Erlangen-Höchstadt district, expressed understanding for Eitel's criticism to the news site: "The employment agency has been in favor of a trivial limit for years.
We also see the aspect of profitability, a de minimis limit would also help us.
But so far there have been no statements from politicians on this subject.”

Incidentally, the employment agency in the district of Erlangen-Höchstadt is not alone in its reclaiming of cent amounts: only recently the job center in Cologne caused astonishment because it wanted a cent back after more than 15 years.
When asked by the media, the job center canceled the request.
