After spending around ten billion euros this year, the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania wants to put the brakes on costs.
From 2023, the ministries should permanently save 150 million euros, as Finance Minister Heiko Geue (SPD) announced on Tuesday in Schwerin.
Schwerin - The cabinet had previously approved the government draft for the state budget for 2022 and 2023.
More details will be discussed in the fall.
The space requirements of the state government are to be reduced by at least 30 percent by 2026 with the help of home offices in order to reduce rental costs.
The draft for the double budget envisages spending of 9.9 billion euros this year and 9.6 billion euros in the coming year.
In addition, expenditures of 917 million euros are planned from the Corona special fund MV protection fund this year and 169 million euros next year.
The total expenditures in both years add up to more than ten billion euros each.
No new debt should be taken on.
However, according to Geue, the country will have to draw on some of its reserves to pay for the expenses.
