This year's theme?

“Literature enlightens the world”.

A whole program concocted by Paule Constant, artistic director of the festival: "At a time when we see science hesitate and when we question its main principles and its immense discoveries, let's turn to literature which, past, present or future, leads us, through reading, to a reflection on ourselves that goes beyond eras and fashions to enlighten the world.

Another central event: Goncourt academicians (Paule Constant, but also Didier Decoin, Tahar Ben Jelloun, Pierre Assouline, Pascal Bruckner) will discuss the "Best of Goncourt", the operation launched with our newspaper which presents 40 novels, winners of the most prestigious literary award.

First volume?

The Roots of Heaven

, by Romain Gary, prefaced by Pascal Bruckner.

In addition, the literary event, which is becoming an appointment that counts, will welcome around fifty authors.

Impossible to name them all, in addition to the autumn “prizes”, Sorj Chalandon, Jean-Christophe Rufin, Boris Cyrulnik, Frédéric Verger (Jean Giono Prize 2021), Francis Huster for his

We will also see Louis-Philippe Dalembert, Goncourt finalist, who will receive the 2022 Southern Writers Readers' Prize for his novel

Milwaukee blues

(Sabine Wespieser).

This award endowed by the City of Aix-en-Provence is awarded by 200 readers on a selection of six novels from the literary season.

During this festival, writers will not be content to stay behind their signing tables.

The event has the reputation of being the place of meetings, readings, debates and conferences with high quality exchanges between the public and the guests.

The program gives a good idea.

Finally, the event will begin on Thursday March 16 with a tribute to Albert Camus by one of his most fervent "supporters": Abd al Malik, who not only wrote a strong and moving account of the author of

L'Etranger

,

Camus: The Art of Revolt

, but also adapted

Les Justes

.

The writer, singer, playwright and filmmaker explains how Albert Camus and his texts strongly influenced not only his career but his life, too.

It will offer a musical reading based on the words of Camus.

A great opportunity to see how much literature enlightens the world.
