Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov announced today that his country demands consideration of the issue of biological laboratories in Ukraine and the destruction of related weapons.
"Russia demands consideration of the issue of laboratories in accordance with the Convention on the Prohibition of the Development, Production and Stockpiling of Biological Weapons and on Their Destruction," RIA Novosti news agency quoted Lavrov as saying.
“We will first demand that this problem be considered in the context of the obligations contained in all countries that are parties to the Biological Weapons Convention, and secondly, we will strive with double energy to ensure that the Americans stop blocking our proposal made 20 years ago on the need to establish a special verification mechanism under this agreement,” Lavrov added.
A few days ago, the Russian Defense Ministry revealed details of an American biological weapons project that was implemented with the participation of laboratories in Kyiv, Kharkov and Odessa during the period up to 2020.
