Syrian-Iranian talks to enhance cooperation in water and industry

The Minister of Water Resources, Dr. Tammam Raad, discussed with the advisor of the Iranian Minister of Defense and the Chairman of the Economic Cooperation Council in Iran, Eng. Mustafa Dhabbi, and his accompanying delegation, to strengthen cooperation relations between the two countries and the efforts made to implement water projects.

The two sides agreed to set up a wells water purification and sewage treatment plant in Damascus countryside, after reviewing the technical and financial study for the two projects.

During the meeting, Minister Raad stressed the need to expand cooperation in a way that contributes to strengthening relations between the two countries, referring to the efforts of the Iranian government, which led to the implementation of desalination plants for the four wells of Hasaka and to secure drinking water for the city's residents after the Turkish occupation forces cut off the water sources feeding it from Alouk wells.

For his part, Eng. Dhabibi noted the fruitful and constructive cooperation that contributes to the rapid implementation of projects and to push the relations between the two countries to further development and prosperity.

The Minister of Industry, Ziad Sobhi Sabbagh, discussed with Eng. Dhabebi yesterday the strengthening of the relations of industrial and economic cooperation and trade exchange between the two countries and speeding up the implementation of previously agreed projects.

The Minister of Industry stressed the importance of intensive cooperation with the Iranian side, especially in light of the economic situation the world is going through, pointing to the importance of industrial projects that are being discussed and ways to implement them within a timetable that includes the priorities that achieve the interests of both countries.

Eng. Dhabibi indicated that the aim of the visit is to expand the frameworks of cooperation and economic relations between the two countries, stressing that the visit carries a message that stands by the Syrian Ministry of Industry, which has a great task in restoring factories to production and mobilizing the labor market.
