claims to have learned from government circles, Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) is even "quite angry" about his minister's advance.

The fuel subsidy he proposes is more effective than the fuel tax cuts that have also been discussed.

People would have to wait weeks or months longer for a fuel price brake through tax cuts because legislation in Germany and possibly also European law would have to be changed.

The subsidy for refueling can also be implemented without much bureaucracy, said Lindner.

It is not intended that individual fuel receipts will be billed to the state.

Rather, the state should act with the oil companies "on the basis of the total amount of fuel".

"The crisis discount is faster, higher and less bureaucratic and can therefore make an important contribution to relief for a limited period of time," said Lindner.

The price at the pump remains as it is now, and the discount is then shown on the fuel bill.

"The state must not leave the citizens and the economy alone with rising prices," emphasized Lindner.

There must be a new relief package.

A higher one-off payment for recipients of basic security and other measures should also be examined.

According to Lindner, the tank subsidy for diesel and petrol would cost 550 million euros in taxpayers' money per month if it were relieved by ten cents.

However, it is clear that ten cents and a month's relief are not enough, and the measure will be correspondingly more expensive.

According to the tabloid, a decision on the measure could possibly be made as early as this week.

But Habeck dismissed the plans, at least indirectly, as "not enough".

The attack of Russia* is driving up fossil energy prices, explained Habeck.

"And all because fear of energy shortages and speculation are heating up the price spiral." He announced three criteria for the new measures.

First of all, there must be simplifications for electricity, heat and mobility, said the minister.

Secondly, energy efficiency and savings are also needed, such as reducing consumption when driving or replacing gas heaters, said Habeck.

Thirdly, further market-based impulses are necessary, so that the following applies: "the more efficient, the lower the costs".

The Green* politician emphasized: "These three criteria must be reflected in the relief package." In this respect, Lindner's proposals fell a little short.

Since then, diesel has increased in price by almost 66 cents per liter, and E10 by a good 45 cents.

The federal government is currently working on a loan assistance program for companies.

This is intended to support those companies that have been hit hard by the EU sanctions * against Russia.

As the

newspaper reported on Saturday, bridging aids for companies that can no longer bear the sharp rise in raw material prices are also being discussed.

In addition, an extension of the short-time work regulation beyond June 30th is being examined, as well as a further increase in the commuter allowance.
