With more yachts than ever in the world's fleet, it's not easy to create a concept that commands attention.
However, the team at the Lazzarini Design Studio has gone to great lengths to rise to the challenge.
Just a few months after unveiling a superyacht concept that can fly and sail, the Rome-based design company unveiled a new design for a futuristic vessel that wouldn't look out of place in a "Star Trek" movie.
This futuristic yacht concept was designed by the team at Lazzarini Design Studio.
At just 20 meters in length, Royal Alpha One is much smaller than the unorthodox superyacht designs for which Lazzarini is known, but no less striking and innovative for that.

The designers' goal was to create a compact boat with the look of a superyacht, and if we can go by the newly released images, they have succeeded.
Inspired by Lazzarini's Royal Jet Capsule, a 7.6 meter long and 3.3 meter wide yacht capsule, the ship has a black, gray and green exterior and features photochromic glass surfaces.
Spanning three decks, the Royal Alpha One has a layout similar to that of a private jet, with spacious seating areas filled with plush armchairs.

With capacity for up to 20 passengers, it has three en-suite cabins, a garage full of water toys and a huge dining room, but its most outstanding feature is undoubtedly its panoramic rooftop Jacuzzi, which has a retractable bottom.

Although the design team has a Volvo Penta IPS twin or triple propulsion system in mind for the Royal Alpha One, with top speeds between 32 and 42 knots, a hydrogen-powered propulsion is also possible.

The project is currently priced at more than 3.5 million euros (approximately US$3 million) and a mock-up of the hull has already been completed.
Lazzarini estimates it will take 15-16 months to build, which means we could see the Royal Alpha One come to fruition by the end of 2023 if it finds a buyer.

Although the project has not yet been chosen, Lazzarini is hopeful of finding a client and having the design go into production in the near future.
The Royal Alpha One is one of the exciting new yacht concepts that have been unveiled in recent months.
Dutch company Phathom Studio's Phathom 60m, a 60m-long concept with a three-story glass atrium, was unveiled last month, while Iddes Yachts unveiled the 54.8m electric sailing superyacht, Sail 55, specifically designed for sustainable sailing.
