New technology for the tunnel on federal highway 2 near Pöcking: The work, which begins on March 21, is expected to last until the end of April.

Pöcking – The technology in the B2 tunnel near Pöcking is around 20 years old.

It will be renewed from Monday, March 21st, until probably Friday, April 29th.

The lighting should not only be switched to LED, but also be brighter overall, explained Ulrich Laun from the State Roads Construction Office in Weilheim when asked.

Work is done when nothing comes up, especially in the evenings and at night - in any case "outside the rush hour", said the building authority.

Traffic will then be alternately guided past the construction site in one lane at traffic lights.

The building authority will begin preparations this Wednesday.

Therefore, a speed limit of 50 km/h applies in both directions - this will also be the case during the work until the end of April.

The authorities cannot guarantee that this point in time can be met.

"A postponement or extension of the closure times depending on the course of the work to be carried out cannot be ruled out," the statement said.

In addition to the tunnel lighting and its control, the energy supply will also be replaced.

The renewal of the operating technology makes a significant contribution to traffic safety, writes the building authority, which asks road users and residents for their understanding.

The work was supposed to start two weeks ago.

As in many other areas, they were delayed due to delivery problems.

Certain electronic components were not available, reports Laun.
