At least two people died and 19 others were injured after a gas leak caused an explosion at a restaurant in Playa del Carmen, Mexico, local authorities reported.
The explosion took place at the Kool Beach restaurant, in the popular Riviera Maya resort, reported Lucio Hernández, secretary of Public Security for the state of Quintana Roo.
Officials said
several tourists were among the injured.
The identities of the victims were unknown as of Monday night.

Authorities said the injured were taken to local hospitals and are receiving treatment, but gave no details about their health.
The gas leak originated in the restaurant's kitchen, according to official Lucio Hernández.
Emergency teams were sent to the scene to assess the causes, damage and the number of injured.
Lilí Campos, municipal president of Solidaridad, the municipality in which Playa del Carmen is located, said at a press conference that the deceased were employees of the restaurant.
