In the midst of the Ukraine-Russia war, the heads of government of Poland, the Czech Republic and Slovenia travel to embattled Kyiv on Tuesday.

They meet President Zelenskyy.

Kyiv – The Ukrainian capital Kyiv is still under attack by the troops of Russian President Vladimir Putin*, there is massive destruction and more and more deaths.

In the midst of this dramatic situation, the heads of government of Poland, the Czech Republic and Slovenia plan to travel to the Ukrainian capital on Tuesday, March 15.

Poland's Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki will travel to Kyiv with his colleagues Petr Fiala (Czech Republic) and Janez Jansa (Slovenia) to assure Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyj* and Prime Minister Denys Schmyhal of EU support, the government in Warsaw announced.

"The aim of the visit is to reiterate the unequivocal support of the entire European Union for the sovereignty and independence of Ukraine and to present a broad package of assistance to the Ukrainian state and society," Warsaw said in a statement.

Accordingly, the three politicians are traveling to Kyiv as “representatives of the European Council”.

The trip was organized with EU Council President Charles Michel and EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.

After more than two weeks of war, Kyiv is almost completely surrounded by Russian troops.

A series of powerful explosions rocked the Ukrainian capital early Tuesday morning.

According to Zelenskyj, negotiations between Kyiv and Moscow are to continue on Tuesday.

Both sides had recently spoken of progress in the talks.
