Yvelines: the Pôle emploi employee embezzles 294,000 euros in unemployment benefits

A 61-year-old man set up false files for people not eligible for these sums, in exchange for remuneration or love relationships


The mechanism was well run.

An employee of the Pôle emploi de Plaisir (Yvelines) set up a particularly lucrative scam between May 2016 and December 2018. Over this period, he embezzled no less than 294,000 euros from the organization's coffers, enriching himself. even more than 102,000 euros.

Because this 61-year-old man, domiciled in Plaisir, was not acting for free.

In exchange for his services, the beneficiaries of his embezzlement had to pay him sums of money, or conceive of granting him a romantic relationship when it was a woman.

The employee used his professional duties to set up false aid application files.

He stole employer certificates from other files, falsified them and added them to his dummy documents.

He took advantage of his function as “fraud referent” to validate these procedures himself.

It is a random internal control of the Pôle emploi which highlighted the inconsistencies in certain files.

Contacted, the public establishment, which filed a complaint in early 2019, did not wish to speak.

A total of eight people have been identified as beneficiaries.

These are women and men aged 35 to 54, living in Paris or in the Hauts-de-Seine for the most part.

Six of them were arrested for concealment of aggravated fraud.

With the exception of one, they admitted having received sums ranging from 1,139 euros to 130,000 euros.

All explained that they had used this money to pay off their debts or to treat themselves.

No seizure could be made by the investigators.

The sexagenarian and the two beneficiaries of the largest sums were placed under judicial control pending their judgment.

For the other four, a hearing is set for July 4.
