What appears to be a quarrel between lovers has come to a dramatic end.
A man of Romanian origin was killed during the night of Wednesday March 16 to Thursday March 17, in the cold waters of the Ourcq canal in Paris (19th century) while he was trying to rescue his companion, taken of a suicidal impulse.
Around 2 a.m., a passerby on the other side of the bank warned the firefighters after seeing and filming several people jumping into the water at 48, quai de la Marne.

Two residents surprise the scene and dive in turn to help the couple in difficulty.

His body is fished out a little later by the frogmen of the river brigade.

Around 3 a.m., Petro was declared officially deceased.
His body was taken to Lariboisière Hospital for an autopsy.

Officials will re-examine the eight witnesses who were found at the scene.
