With the participation of more than 60 craftsmen in the traditional Syrian craftsmanship, the activities of the (Syria History and Civilizations) festival kicked off today at the Dummar Central Incubator for Craft Arts in Dummar, which is organized by the General Union of Craftsmen and will continue until the end of this month.

The festival program includes daily seminars and workshops for participating crafts such as coppersmiths, woodcarving, fashion design, oriental arts, handicrafts and others to introduce them and their competitive capabilities and the possibility of opening export markets for owners of crafts and handicrafts, ways to obtain financing for these micro-projects, in addition to training courses and heritage parties and honoring productive craftsmen with talents. Head of the General Union of Craftsmen, Naji Al-Hadawa, stressed in a statement to SANA the importance of these crafts included in the festival, which reflects the cultural heritage of Syria and the products of Syrian craftsmen and sheds light on the importance of these products and their marketing and providing support for crafts as micro-projects to contribute to the national economy and pay attention to skilled craftsmen for Increased production and continuity of these crafts.

For his part, director of Dummar Craft Incubator Louay Sheko explained that the aim of the festival is to familiarize visitors and Syrian youth with the types of crafts that exist, in addition to preparing for courses, exhibitions and specialized festivals that will be organized during the summer.

Hassan Badenjaki, head of the Regional Office for Produced Families and Crafts and Traditional Industries in Syria, confirmed that the office supported many craft projects, including the Jasmine flower project participating in the festival, which includes 30 productive families in the craft of Al-Mamounia Aleppo production, where the office provided them with a production unit with all its requirements, in addition to training and marketing support in Points of sale in the Syrian governorates.

For his part, Director of Operations at Banque Bemo Saudi Fransi for Microfinance, Ali Aswad, indicated that the bank supports craft projects and provides the necessary financing for them, in addition to targeting with banks that represent a large segment of small producers, small business owners, and people with limited and no income by granting them operational loans.

In interviews with the participants, Abeer Asaad, who works in the craft of weaving wool, indicated that the festival is a great opportunity for her to market her products, while Nagham Al-Hashmah, who works in the field of accessories and started her project four years ago, drew attention to the facilities provided to her by various parties that helped her expand her project and market its products.

Craftsman Abeer Abu Hammoud, who works in the field of antiques and accessories, said: Our participation in exhibitions aims to market our products and introduce them to visitors.

The festival continues until the end of this month, every day from two in the afternoon until nine in the evening.
