In a world where serious crises are accumulating, the candidate Emmanuel Macron, if he is re-elected, intends to rely on the army.
During his press conference on Thursday, the outgoing president defended his record and promised to continue the effort.
“
As early as 2017, I decided to break with our disengagement from our armies.
We have kept our commitments
,” he observed.
“
The army budget this year is 40.9 billion euros.
We will reach the target of 50 billion in 2025
,” he said, recalling the target he had set in the military programming law.
