Public holidays 2022: what is the calendar in France and the days to ask this year?

2022-03-17T15:33:10.822Z

What are the next public holidays in 2022? Pont de l'Ascension, long weekends... Le Figaro tells you the dates to be preferred as well as the days to ask to maximize your travel time in 2022 thanks to the game of public holidays.

When are the next public holidays in 2022?

Scrutinized by most employees, the calendar is quite interesting this year.

If four of them fall during the weekend – including Saturday January 1, already past – four are on the other hand positioned on a Friday or Monday and three are in the middle of the week.

Asking 17 days of vacation on specific dates (see infographic below) will allow you to obtain 40 days of vacation.

So much time saved to allow yourself a stay in town, in the mountains or on the coast, or even a rarer and more distant trip.

What are the next public holidays in April and May 2022?

Are you counting on the next public holidays to plan a city break in France or Europe?

In April, only

Easter Monday

, which falls on April 18, 2022, will allow you to fly off the coast of Portugal to enjoy its oceanic climate, in Sicily or in Crete between sea and mountains.

In May,

Labor Day

and

Victory Day 1945

both fall on a Sunday, but

Ascension Thursday

can be a good bridge.

What days to ask in 2022 to take advantage of bridges depending on public holidays?

The first possibility is offered in

April

on Easter Monday (April 18).

By asking on Friday the 15th, you get four days off;

an opportunity to take advantage of the arrival of fine weather.

Note that this day is a public holiday in Alsace-Moselle (departments of Moselle, Bas-Rhin and Haut-Rhin) where it corresponds to Good Friday.

In

May

, thanks to Ascension Thursday (May 26), requesting leave on Friday the 27th gives you a four-day bridge.

At the beginning of

June

, without sacrificing time off, you enjoy a three-day weekend thanks to Whit Monday (June 6).

Here, the trick is to ask every working day between these two holidays (i.e. from Thursday May 26 to Monday June 6 inclusive): betting six days off will result in 12 days of rest.

Enough to treat yourself to a short vacation before the big ones!

In November 2022, 8 days of leave free up 16 days of vacation

In

July

, we will celebrate the National Day (July 14) on a Thursday.

Leave the office on Friday the 15th to enjoy a four-day weekend.

In

August

, the Assumption (August 15) is celebrated on a Monday, which automatically extends your weekend by one day.

To have four days, also ask on Friday, August 12.

Like May,

November

proves to be particularly advantageous.

As All Saints Day (November 1) is celebrated on a Tuesday, asking on Monday, October 31 frees you up for a four-day weekend.

The weeks of October 31 and November 7 each contain two public holidays.

By being absent for these two weeks (i.e. 8 holidays), you obtain 16 days of rest (i.e. from Saturday October 29 to Sunday November 13 inclusive).

In

December

, the calendar does not offer a gift: Christmas (December 25) will be celebrated on a Sunday, like the New Year 2023.
