In the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, Pope Francis, believe his critics, gives the impression of having committed a faux pas by not designating the "enemy", namely Putin.
Some even speak of a papal “silence”.
Curious.
Over the past year, Francis has publicly intervened twenty-one times exactly against the prospect, the preparation, the engagement and the course of this war.
Not to mention the multiple diplomatic actions deployed by the Vatican both in Russia and in Ukraine and at the UN.

Admittedly, the pope has never taken sides, neither for Ukraine nor for Russia, because of the diplomatic tradition of neutrality of the Holy See.
And because Francis' target is war as such and not the countries at war.
If he shouts like on Sunday March 13:
“In the name of God, I ask you: stop this massacre!”
by denouncing an
"unacceptable armed aggression"
, the real novelty carried by Francis is a form of radical pacifism.
