According to a report, the two discounters Aldi Süd and Aldi Nord have increased the prices of hundreds of products.

Almost all product groups are affected.

Mülheim - The raw material and energy prices continue to rise - and thus affect the manufacturing costs of many products.

The discounters Aldi Süd and Aldi Nord are now passing on the manufacturers' higher prices to consumers.

According to a report by

Lebensmittelzeitung

, the two supermarket chains have increased the prices of around 400 items.

Aldi Süd and Aldi Nord with sometimes significant price increases

However, the 400 items also include product variants.

If one were not to count these, 160 articles and thus ten percent of the range would still be affected, the newspaper reports.

The increases run through almost all product groups with sometimes significant price increases of ten cents to one euro.

According to the

Lebensmittelzeitung

, the cheapest mineral water now costs 25 cents instead of the previous 19 cents.

This corresponds to a price premium of 31 percent.

The biggest price jumps are for coffee: the “Amaroy Our Best” variety now costs 4.59 euros, 60 cents or 15 percent more.

Organic coffee will be a whole euro more expensive.

There are also price increases for detergents, baked goods and frozen products.

Rising raw material prices and energy costs: More and more manufacturers are demanding price increases

The discounters' price increases are not surprising.

More and more manufacturers are demanding price increases because the Ukraine war caused the already high energy and raw material prices to rise even further.

These include large meat and sausage manufacturers.

For example, Tönnies recently called for price increases from retailers such as Aldi, Rewe and Co.

The bakery trade is also expecting rising prices for bread and rolls.

Retail expert Robert Kecskes from the market research company GfK is convinced: “The Ukraine conflict will increase the pressure to raise prices even further.

The price increase will certainly be considerable.”
