Washington, DC - President Joe Biden warned Chinese President Xi Jinping during a two-hour phone call Friday that there will be consequences for China if the country decides to provide "material support" for Russia after it decided to invade. Ukraine, according to Administration officials.
During the conversation, Biden shared with his Chinese counterpart a detailed review of how events have unfolded in the Russian invasion and his assessment of Russian President Vladimir Putin's calculations, as well as Biden's full support for a diplomatic solution to the crisis.

Officials say it was a
"direct, substantial and detailed" exchange.
"The president was not actually making any specific requests to China," the official said.
“He was laying out his assessment of the situation, what he thinks makes sense and the implications of certain actions.
You know, I think our view is that China will make its own decisions."
