In view of these scenes, passers-by immediately dialed the emergency call: To save her dog, a woman also jumped into the ice-cold Isar on Friday morning.

The fire department rushed to both of them.

The Munich fire brigade set out on an unusual mission early on Friday morning: the rescue workers had to rush to the aid of a woman on an island in the Isar who was in trouble with her dog in the middle of the river.

Both were soaking wet on the piece of concrete - and fortunately could be brought to safety.

Dramatic scenes at the Reichenbach Bridge

The dramatic events began at 7.46 a.m. in the Isar suburb, when the little black Zamperl broke free while walking the dog and simply jumped into the ice-cold Isar.

Anxious seconds in which it was just a matter of acting.

"The dog owner didn't shy away from a fresh bath," says a press release from the fire brigade.

Means: His mistress didn't hesitate for long in view of the precarious situation, ignoring the cold temperatures and the even colder river water: The woman simply jumped in so as not to lose her beloved four-legged friend.

A passer-by observed the unusual scenes and immediately called the fire brigade emergency number.

Caused a stir: the rescue operation on Friday morning.

On site, the rescuers made eye and call contact with the stranded dog owner.

"With the help of a turntable ladder, the woman and her four-legged friend were safely lifted onto the Reichenbach Bridge," the fire brigade announced.

While her boyfriend hurried to take care of the adventurous dog, the woman was taken to the hospital as a precaution.

There was a suspicion that they had hypothermia during their rescue operation
