After a two-year break, it's finally back to "the mountains are calling!".

At least that's how it looked a few weeks ago.

But the developments in corona politics and the war in Ukraine are calling into question what was believed to be safe.

Erlangen - In the summer of 2022 it should finally be possible to celebrate again - including beer, rides and many people.

After a two-year Corona break, the Erlangen Bergkirchweih could take place again.

You can read all the information about this year's cellars and rides here.

But now there is new information.

"We inevitably observe the highly dynamic news situation," explains Konrad Beugel, consultant for economics and finance and "Berg" consultant when asked by

merkur.de.

"Because nobody can assess whether and how well-known topics such as Corona and Ukraine will continue to affect events." Preparations for the Bergkirchweih are still being worked on.

Erlangen Bergkirchweih 2022: No more corona requirements from April 2nd?

It is not yet known what measures will be taken to ensure that Bavaria's oldest folk festival takes place in a corona-compliant manner.

Various options are conceivable.

On Tuesday, March 15, Head of State Florian Herrmann announced at a press conference that folk festivals in Bavaria would be allowed again this year.

The ban on celebrating in public places also no longer applies.

Until April 2nd, the same rules should apply to folk festivals as to gastronomy, i.e. 3G, but after that all the requirements will no longer apply here either.

Bergkirchweih 2022 in Erlangen: due to hotspot regulation on the brink?

However, the decision as to which folk festivals take place is not made by the state government.

That is then the responsibility of the respective city - after the rules are no longer applicable on April 2nd, a hotspot regulation is planned by the federal government.

So if Erlangen has a very high rate of infection at the beginning of June, various access restrictions could apply to the Bergkirchweih.

Even a complete cancellation is not entirely out of the question.

The same applies to the Nuremberg festival "Rock im Park".

According to the planned law, in order to be able to make use of the hotspot rule, one of two requirements must be met: Either the spread of a more dangerous virus variant must be detected in a region or it must be “due to a particularly high number of new infections or a particularly sharp increase in new infections, an overload of hospital capacities”.

However, the law does not provide for precise limit values.

Accordingly, the following rules for the Erlangen Bergkirchweih could be decided:

It would also be possible to apply a special hygiene concept.

For example, Klaus Holetschek would still like to see masks compulsory at events.

However, distance regulations and mask requirements at a folk festival are rather unlikely and difficult to enforce.

"Berg" speaker Beugel: "We keep our fingers crossed"

Konrad Beugel explains that they want to focus on events that are about to start, such as the Würzburg Spring Folk Festival from March 26th and the Nuremberg Spring Festival from April 16th.

“We keep our fingers crossed for them.

If these take place, the chances of the Erlangen Bergkirchweih being held increase.

Erlangen Bergkirchweih: Ukraine war affects planning

Nevertheless, the war in Ukraine also plays a part in the planning.

Most recently, the Nockherberg in Munich was also canceled.

The organizers said it was impossible in the current situation to laugh "freely with and about each other".

Whether the Erlangen Bergkirchweih will actually take place cannot yet be said conclusively.
