After celebrating Purim all over the country, today (Friday) is the time for Jerusalem to wash the city streets with a variety of beautiful and original costumes.

Although the weather is cold and sometimes it even rains in the capital, this did not stop its residents from taking to the streets and enjoying the holiday atmosphere and rejoicing in Adlaide.
As is well known, Purim is celebrated in Jerusalem on Tu B'Adar, compared to the other cities in Israel where it is celebrated the day before, on the 14th of Adar.
This is because in the Book of Esther it is said that the war against the enemies of the Jewish people took place on the 3rd of Adar, and the rest from the war - on the 14th, while in Shushan HaBira (surrounded by a wall) they fought another day - the 14th, and the rest was on the 15th of Adar.

Therefore, it was determined that all the walled cities from the time of Yehoshua ben Nun (the beginning of the settlement of Eretz Yisrael) will mark the holiday of Purim on that day of rejoicing in Shushan HaBira (Tu Bader).
Nowadays, only in Jerusalem does this condition exist for sure, and it is a city surrounded by a wall - therefore, in the capital is celebrated on Tu B'Adar, while in other cities in the country (none of which is surrounded by a wall from the days of Joshua ben Nun) - Purim is celebrated on Adar.

It should be noted that in the Gemara in Tractate Megillah there are disputes about other cities that are doubtful if they were surrounded by a wall, such as Tiberias, Lod and Acre - but some were rejected and some no conclusive proof was found that they were indeed surrounded by a wall.
