The Green Group takes stock of the climate and energy transition in Wolfratshausen and presents new goals.

It's not just about environmental protection.

Wolfratshausen – The Wolfratshausen Greens have not been too successful with their applications so far.

Citizen participation, environmental protection, road safety, playground expansion: not a single wish of the largest city council group has been fulfilled in the previous term of office.

"We had to realize that we are still a minority," says Annette Heinloth - even though the strength of the faction doubled in the most recent local elections in 2020.

Six Greens sit on the board, more than for any other group.

So far, the parliamentary group has been satisfied with its own work – and named new goals in a press conference.

Unsurprisingly, environmental and climate protection is at the heart of green efforts.

As the six councilors made clear, the parliamentary group would also like to devote more attention to the topics of citizen participation, youth work and culture.

The Greens are extremely dissatisfied with the city's progress in terms of climate protection.

"I don't have the feeling that enough work is being done on this," said Rudi Seibt.

He wants to step on the gas pedal when it comes to renewable energies.

The city currently occupies the inglorious last place in the district in terms of the share of renewables in electricity consumption.

One of Seibt's hopes is that the Wolfratshausen-based company will switch to renewable sources due to the increased prices for heat and electricity: "Anyone who has a solar system on the roof is not affected."

The sluggish energy transition is not the only thorn in the side of the Greens.

Hans Schmidt, the city council's environment and climate officer, sees a lot of catching up to do.

He renewed his desire for a continuous 30 km/h zone in Wolfratshausen, a strengthening of cycling and an examination of Green ideas for improving the pedestrian situation in Loisachstadt.

As reported, this application fell through in the building committee because the other parliamentary groups had pointed out that all aspects had already been discussed in the traffic review.

In his own words, Schmidt noted "with horror" that there are no minutes of these expert groups.

"Quality control must also apply to the work of the city administration," emphasized Schmidt, who held the mayor responsible.

Basically, he stated that the climate emergency declared by the city council in 2019 had “hardly any consequences so far”.

"We want more green, more unsealed, natural areas in the city."

More offers for young people in Wolfratshausen: Green councilor wants to create Blade Night and meeting places

Jennifer Layton, City Council youth officer, made youth work a priority.

The past two years have been “for many young people a time of forgoing friends, detachment from family, plans for the future and human experiences”.

However, you have noticed a "spirit of optimism".

"Especially now it is important to give adolescents a voice again." This should happen in different ways: The youth forum is to take place again this year - after a three-year break.

In addition, Layton plans regular roundtables with student representatives, which should also be joined by other committed young people.

The speaker has many ideas for campaigns and initiatives: after the junior high school – which is run by the district – the city schools should also try to be certified as fair trade schools.

She would like to realize more meeting places, podcasts with youth topics and a blade night.

The city council should not forget the issue of living space for young adults either.

Surfing wave failed: Greens think it's "quite a shame"

What Layton finds "quite a pity" is the prospect that nothing will come of the surfing wave in Weidach.

There is a new advance from the shaft designer, who held out the prospect of a cheaper realization.

"But we have to look at that in the parliamentary group and check it first," said third mayor Heinloth.

Schmidt indicated in advance that he was "skeptical" about the proposal.
