A criminal who fled during a day off a week ago has returned to the Hamburg JVA.
The police had previously searched for the man in vain.
Hamburg - A week ago, a man escaped from the security detention during an escorted exit, now he has reappeared.
The 53-year-old returned to the Fuhlsbüttel correctional facility in Hamburg on Friday.
The Hamburg authority for justice and consumer protection announced that he appeared at the door of the JVA on Friday evening and turned himself in.
The man, who had been sentenced to five and a half years in prison followed by preventive detention in 2008 for, among other things, aggravated extortion, had escaped for the third time.
The escape of a prisoner from the Munich JVA Stadelheim was spectacular.

On Friday a week ago, the inmate was allowed to stay outside the Fuhlsbüttel prison with a police officer for several hours.
On the way back to the JVA he had then deposed and escaped.
An immediately initiated search was unsuccessful.
The police searched for the criminal with dogs and a helicopter until the end.
On Wednesday evening, the emergency services suspected the wanted person in a car.
"The car, in which the emergency services suspected a wanted criminal, had fled from the radio patrol car crew on Wednesday evening and was found abandoned on Hollestrasse a short time later," a police spokesman said on Thursday.
The man could no longer be found.
Mann had previously escaped twice from Hamburg JVA
Now the 53-year-old has returned of his own accord.
According to the Hamburg Interior Authority, the man had already fled in 2017 and 2021 during one of his releases, which are part of the rehabilitation process.
The easing serves to prepare for the release, so that life without punishment in freedom can be tried out.
