In 1971, parents from Bergham, which had a large number of children, decided that Parsberg needed its own kindergarten.

Less than a year later, the wish became a reality.

A look back at the anniversary.

Parsberg

– Shortly before the opening, things got exciting again in the new St. Laurentius kindergarten in Parsberg.

Actually, everything was all set - including cheerful pictures on the walls and colorful flowers on the windows.

But the long-ordered furniture was a long time coming.

for weeks.

They did arrive "at the last minute", reports the Miesbacher Anzeiger about the inauguration ceremony on March 19, 1972 - this Saturday 50 years ago.

Just one day later, the first group occupied the rooms in the old school building, which had been freshly renovated within nine months.

And even then the demand was so great that manager Maria Kellringer had to create a waiting list.

No wonder, after all, the rush was there before there was even a kindergarten in Parsberg.

Parents set up kindergarten association

In 1971, the settlement in Bergham, which had a large number of children, expressed the desire to set up a childcare facility in the then politically independent municipality of Parsberg.

And the parents got serious: On September 30, 25 of them founded a kindergarten association.

The later Mayor of Miesbach, Gerhard Maier, and Pastor Helmut Rößler took over the chairmanship.

They soon sat down with representatives of the town hall, the archbishop's ordinariate and the parish.

The negotiations were successful: the municipality agreed to make rooms in the old school building available and to bear the costs for lighting, heating, cleaning and building maintenance.

The Caritas Association of the Archdiocese of Munich and Freising subsidized furniture and toys, provided bridging funds and balanced the budget deficit in the years that followed.

The parish church foundation took over the sponsorship - and the kindergarten association assured its help.

A construct that has proven itself well over the years, reports kindergarten director Evi Feicht.

To this day, the institution enjoys "a very high status locally" and can always hope for support, not least from the local elementary school.

In this way, it was possible to keep up with the times and to cope with the constantly increasing demand for childcare places.

The district of Miesbach sent a bus full of refugees back to Munich.

A discussion has now broken out about this.

One of the cornerstones for this was the promise of the city of Miesbach to take over all promised services after the incorporation of Parsberg on May 1, 1978.

Only six years later, the first growth step followed in the form of a second group.

When the sports club then moved into its own clubhouse in 1995, the city had the school building extensively renovated so that a third kindergarten group could be accommodated in the converted attic.

As a kind of reward, the facility was officially recognized almost a year later.

Since 2008 also a crèche group in the old school building

In 2008, the kindergarten also had the operating permit for an integrated crèche group in its pocket and can therefore also accept children under the age of three.

The rabbits, sparrows, mice and beetles received further growth in 2019 through the forest group Oachkatzl.

18 children can play and romp in the great outdoors and in bad weather they can crawl into a trailer.

According to director Feicht, the fact that there is no shortage of excursions is not least due to the many donations from the support association, which has now grown to 100 members.

Many parents and grandparents remained true to this even when their children and grandchildren retired due to age.

In this way, the St. Laurentius kindergarten has always managed to live up to its good reputation of 50 years ago.

Even at the opening, there was "unrestricted admiration", it said in the local newspaper, "that such a modern facility could be formed in a rural community".

The celebrations

for the 50th anniversary of the Catholic kindergarten in Parsberg are for the weekend, 21./22.

May planned.

The start will be on Saturday at 10 a.m. with a service with Auxiliary Bishop Wolfgang Bischof, followed by lunch together in the marquee.

In the afternoon, play stations, a bouncy castle and a tombola provide variety.

The festival is musically framed by the youth brass band Niklasreuth and the "Vonga Viererblosn" from Vagen.

On Sunday there is a flea market from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., at 2 p.m. “Dr.

Döblinger's tasteful Kasperltheater" paid his respects.

Tickets for the performance are available from May 1st.
