President Bashar al-Assad met with His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, who received President al-Assad at Al-Shati Palace, considered that this visit comes within the framework of the common concern to continue consultation and fraternal coordination between the two countries on various issues, stressing that Syria is a fundamental pillar of Arab security, and therefore the UAE position is consistent in its support for the unity of the Arab world. Sheikh bin Zayed stressed the need for the withdrawal of all foreign forces illegally present on Syrian territory, expressing the UAE's keenness to strengthen cooperation with Syria in areas that achieve the aspirations of the two brotherly peoples.
President al-Assad stressed that the UAE is a country that plays a major role in view of the balanced policies it pursues towards international issues, pointing out that the world is changing and moving for a long time towards a state of instability. Therefore, in order to protect our region, we must continue to adhere to our principles, the sovereignty of our countries, and the interests of our peoples.
President al-Assad and Sheikh bin Zayed discussed brotherly relations, cooperation and joint coordination between the two brotherly countries to achieve their mutual interests and contribute to the consolidation of security and stability in the region. They exchanged views and the two countries' positions towards all regional and international issues and developments of common interest.
The meeting was attended by Sheikh Tahnoun bin Zayed Al Nahyan, National Security Adviser, Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and Ali bin Hammad Al Shamsi, Deputy Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for National Security.
It was also attended by the delegation accompanying President al-Assad, which includes Dr. Faisal Miqdad, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Mansour Azzam, Minister of Presidential Affairs, and Dr. Bashar al-Jaafari, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates.
