The Osnabrück public prosecutor's office assumes that there was no meeting between Jens Spahn (CDU) and the entrepreneur Hendrik Holt, who was accused of fraud.
At a date of the trial against Holt before the Osnabrück district court, an allegation by the accused caused a stir.
At the time, Holt said he had met Spahn in advance of a planned major order for disinfectants in Berlin.
According to Holt, the then Federal Minister of Health in 2020 even demanded a share in the multi-million dollar business in the bar area of the luxury hotel Adlon.
In a phone call to the prosecutor, Spahn denied that there had been a meeting.
He doesn't know Holt personally.
According to SPIEGEL research, a witness to the alleged meeting named by the entrepreneur contradicted Holt's version.
Investigations into “false suspicion”
A check of his cell phone and other data carriers did not provide any evidence of personal contact with Spahn.
The public prosecutor's office in Osnabrück has now initiated preliminary proceedings against Holt because of "false suspicion".
He is on trial for allegedly marketing large-scale wind farm projects that apparently only existed in his imagination.
