Less and less public traffic: VR-Bank Erding is closing its branches in Hohenlinden and Forstinning in the summer.

This is what customers need to know now:

Forstinning / Hohenlinden – In the middle of the year, the light will not go out completely in the two branches of VR-Bank Erding in Hohenlinden and Forstinning, it will only be on in the entrance area: These branch offices will be closed, customers will then only find cash dispensers and account statements.

The advice should remain secure.

Personal advice in the neighboring villages

After rumors about the closure of these bank branches had been circulating through the two affected communities for days, the VR-Bank confirmed this step at the request of the local newspaper.

"In Hohenlinden we will close on June 30th, in Forstinning on July 15th," says Johann Luber, the CEO of the bank in Erding.

Until now, customer care was still possible there every day, except for the afternoons on Wednesdays and Fridays.

"We have already informed both the respective customers and the mayor about this measure".

However, so that customers from Forstinning can continue to use banking transactions with a personal address, the VR branch in neighboring Anzing now also offers this service.

"Because our two customer advisors and a service worker from Forstinning then work there.

Customers from Hohenlinden will continue to find personal advice in Forstern," says Luber.

The machines in the anterooms can still be used.

All other services are retained

The head of VR-Bank explains how this development came about, which he sees as symptomatic of our time as a whole.

"In both branches, we had a drop in visits from customers of around ten percent, and cash withdrawals from our machines have even fallen by 30 percent since the beginning of the corona pandemic," says Johann Luber.

Because younger people in particular would do almost all their banking online, "after all, they can not only pay, transfer money or check account balances".

For older people who may not yet have confidence in modern technology or who are not connected to the Internet, VR-Bank also offers a comprehensive range of services by telephone - "total, 90 percent of all banking transactions are now carried out by telephone or online.

Only when creating new accounts,

in the case of special advice or in the lending business, a discussion between the bank employee and the customer is still necessary.

This means that we are also adapting to this new situation in terms of personnel, of course also in the rural communities".
