Geretsried/Wolfratshausen – Former city and district councilor Günther Fuhrmann sharply criticized the ongoing construction projects in the “Neue Mitte” during a general meeting of the FDP local association Geretsried-Wolfratshausen in the Wolfratshausen inn Floößerei.
The 77-year-old outlined his criticisms of the redesign of the center in Geretsried on a flipchart.
"The architectural style is called Brutalism," it read.
Fuhrmann pointed out that the large entrances in front of the underground car park massively impair the design area of the center and represent a barrier for pedestrians and cyclists.
The 80-year-old regular guest Heinz Wensauer, who mostly drives without a motor himself, agreed with him.
"I often have to ride a cumbersome loop on my bike myself," explained the 80-year-old.
According to Fuhrmann, there is no sign of the city's target of creating a promenade along Egerlandstrasse.
"We have three big holes in the center: that's not a success for the citizens," stated Fuhrmann.
more transparency
The settlement of Aldi, Rossmann and C&A is not enough.
In addition, the former city councilor criticized what he saw as the authoritarian management style of Mayor Michael Müller (CSU), who withheld important information from city councillors.
Edmund Häner, who involuntarily left the parliamentary group with the Free Voters in January, agreed with him.
"I would like more transparency," he said.
Just like the Wolfratshausen city councilor Patrick Lechner, Häner regretted the abolition of a quarter of an hour in the city council meetings.

In order to give the concerns of the FDP more emphasis, the current number of members of the local association is to increase from 26 to at least 40.
In addition, an increase in city council and district council mandates is being sought.
Fuhrmann, who joined the FDP in 1973 and has since left the party because of Jürgen Möllemann's controversial policies, is now hoping for an upswing in the Liberals.
Three years ago he took over the presidency of the newly founded local branch of the neighboring towns of Geretsried and Wolfratshausen.
On April 6, the Liberals elect a successor to Fuhrmann, who resigns from office.
