The Iraqi Popular Mobilization Authority announced today the launch of a security operation in the governorates of Diyala and Salah al-Din to pursue the remnants of the terrorist organization “ISIS” and secure a number of areas.
Alsumaria News website quoted the commission as saying in a statement: "A security operation was launched in Khanaqin district, east of Diyala, and was carried out by a joint security force, where the Buqja area was searched, in addition to the Makhias area, all the way to the border with Iran."
The statement explained that the goal of the operation is to track down the remnants of the terrorist organization “ISIS” throughout Diyala and secure the areas before the start of the Nowruz celebrations.
The statement added that a force from the Salah al-Din Operations Command launched a security operation south of Tikrit in Salah al-Din Governorate, which included purifying the areas of al-Zalaya, al-Uwainat and al-Bodor to prevent them from being exploited by ISIS terrorist cells to target areas and civilians.
Earlier today, the Iraqi security forces seized weapons and equipment during a security operation they carried out in Maysan Governorate, east of the country.
