The evening will begin with the story of a miraculously solved case following the discovery, by the police, of an innocuous detail allowing the culprit to be confused.

"A miracle that changes everything during an investigation that has bogged down because there is no murder weapon, no witness, not the slightest trace of the perpetrator, and sometimes not even a body”

, explains Jacques Pradel.

Passionate about detective novels, but also authentic stories, the journalist-storyteller found the archives of several hundred files which could have been the starting point for an investigation by Inspector Columbo.

He immersed himself in it and, after a drastic selection, he chose the cases that seemed to him the most incredible but true, where reality had far exceeded fiction.

He will evoke them, in his own way, over the evenings, depending on the place and his mood.

Admitting to being a great talker by nature, he will rely on a few notes but will rather improvise for about an hour on subjects he has come to know in great detail.

Among these investigations, he admits to having a weakness for what he considers the model of the genre: the arrest in Palermo of an assassin with Machiavellian intelligence, who believed he had erased all traces of his crime.

During a search, an inspector spotted a mosquito crushed on a wall.

Using tweezers, he retrieves it and sends it to a forensic laboratory.

An analysis has identified the victim's DNA in the insect's blood!

Judges, lawyers and commissioners will play the game

At the end of this story, Jacques Pradel will be joined, on stage, by lawyers, judges and police officers, including divisional commissioners, who have agreed to play the game. As in a trial, they will give a personal opinion , will share their “

intimate conviction

”, and will try to explain what really happened.

They will also make connections with police series on television, the scenarios of which have sometimes given ideas to would-be criminals.

The debate will conclude with questions from the audience and a signing session.

About fifteen evenings, on a trial basis, are already scheduled until the end of May.

Each of them will take place in a cinema of the CGR network, where other cycles of conferences have already taken place, in particular with the story, by singer Antoine, of his travels to the end of the world.

Among the cities planned are Bordeaux, Toulouse, Montpellier and Paris on April 15, at the Cinéma Étoile-Lilas (Paris 20th).

Pradel still does not know if this is the starting point of a new career, but assures that he will take pleasure in putting faces to those who regularly follow his stories.

Not taking advantage of this meeting to get to know each other would indeed be a crime.
