An earthquake measuring 5.5 on the Richter scale hit several states in northern Algeria today.
And the Algerian newspaper An-Nahar quoted the National Center for Earthquake Monitoring as saying: "An earthquake was recorded in the state of Bejaia this morning, with a magnitude of 5.5 on the Richter scale, and its epicenter was located at 28 km northeast of Ras Carbone and was felt by the residents of Tizi Ouzou, Jijel, Bouira and the capital."
An earthquake measuring 4.3 on the Richter scale hit the state of Medea yesterday.
