There is now also a cheaper two-hour ticket.

The introduction of new parking fees of 5 euros per day on the southern shore of Walchensee caused a lot of discussion last year.

Now there are some simplifications.

Jachenau

– The municipality of Jachenau tightens the regulations regarding parking fees at Lake Walchensee.

At its meeting on Tuesday evening, the municipal council unanimously voted in favor of introducing an annual parking card for fishermen and releasing additional parking spaces for mobile homes.

A parking ticket for two hours has also been introduced for some time.

Walchensee: Parking ticket for 2 hours costs 2 euros

The times when parking on the southern shore of Walchensee was free are over since last summer.

As reported, the municipality had parking machines set up, where you now have to pay a fee of 5 euros per day.

After the experiences and feedback of the first season, the municipality has now worked on some details.

"We introduced the short-term parking ticket for those who want to go for a walk by the lake in winter, or for bathers in summer who quickly jump into the lake after work," explains Mayor Klaus Rauchenberger.

It is now also possible to drive to the lake for a short while and have a cup of coffee without paying a parking fee for a whole day.

The parking ticket for two hours costs 2 euros.

Two additional parking spaces for mobile homes at Walchensee

Incidentally, there is no two-hour ticket for the municipal hiking car park.

According to Rauchenberger, guests who leave there for longer tours are not asked for it.

There is an exception at the Schützenhaus car park, where the first two hours are free for churchgoers.

There was also a lot of feedback on the new parking rules from campers, who have only been allowed to park their vehicles at three designated locations on the south bank since last year.

The municipality is now releasing two more parking spaces for them, namely the P4 at the Niedernach power plant - according to the mayor it is usually not very busy - and the P11 parking lot near the water rescue station.

According to the mayor, there is a jetty here that sailors can use for a flat fee to the state forests.

"There are some who arrive in motorhomes," explains Rauchenberger.

Motorhome owners continue to pay a parking fee of 10 euros per day on the southern shore of Walchensee.

Walchensee south shore: annual parking permit for fishermen

Numerous inquiries have been received from fishermen since the introduction of the parking fee.

They would like an annual parking permit – and the community is now complying with that.

As reported, the community initially hesitated.

Now, however, Rauchenberger put forward the argument that the fishermen are usually out on the Walchensee quite early in the morning.

"By the time the tourists and bathers come, they're usually gone again." This way, the different user groups don't get in each other's way with the 1,000 parking spaces on the south bank.

The annual fishing permit will cost 75 euros and will only be sold to annual fishing permit holders.

The point of sale is the Walchensee fishing association.

"It's still Corona time, not too many should come to the community to get the parking permit," said Rauchenberger.
