Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi described his country's stance on the crisis in Ukraine as "objective, fair and on the right side of history."

"China's position is objective, fair and in line with the aspirations of most countries, and time will show that it is on the right side of history," Wang Yi said in a statement published by the Chinese Foreign Ministry on its website and reported by Xinhua today.

Wang Yi added that during the phone call with his US counterpart Joe Biden the day before yesterday, Chinese President Xi Jinping comprehensively and unequivocally clarified China's position in this regard, and the most important message is that in order to solve the Ukrainian crisis and ensure stability in Europe, it is necessary for Washington to abandon the mentality of the Cold War. And work to form a balanced, effective and sustainable architecture for regional security.

The Chinese Foreign Minister pointed out that his country has always been a force for maintaining world peace and that it will never accept any external coercion or pressure, and it also opposes any unfounded accusations or suspicions against it.

Wang Yi stressed that the Chinese president also proposed a Chinese solution to the Ukraine crisis, which basically includes all parties working together to promote dialogue and negotiations between the parties, a ceasefire and a cessation of hostilities as soon as possible, avoiding civilian casualties, especially to prevent humanitarian crises.

The Chinese Foreign Minister reiterated that the long-term solution to the crisis is to abandon the Cold War mentality, refrain from engaging in a collective confrontation, and form a balanced, effective and sustainable regional security architecture. Only in this way can long-term stability be achieved on the European continent.

Yesterday, Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Li Yuqing stressed that the sanctions imposed by Western countries on Russia due to the special military operation to protect the residents of Donbass are "outrageous", stressing that the root cause of the crisis in Ukraine lies in the Cold War mentality and power policy of the West.

It should be noted that during the phone call with his American counterpart, the Chinese president urged the parties in Ukraine to show political will and keenness on continuing dialogue and negotiations, pointing out that the United States and NATO should hold a dialogue with Russia to address the essence of the Ukrainian crisis and alleviate the security concerns of Russia and Ukraine.
