He helped shape the community for over a quarter of a century - now Hans Hartl is leaving the council in Königsdorf.

His decision is due to health reasons.

Königsdorf – The news is likely to cause a stir in the community: Hans Hartl, a member of the Königsdorf municipal council for almost 26 years, has applied to be allowed to resign his mandate.

In the coming meeting on Tuesday, March 29, the committee will deal with Hartl's request - and, since it can be assumed that it will be granted, will probably also swear in the successor.

Johann Schwaiger Jr.

follows on the list of the CSU.

Anyone who has experienced Hartl in the meetings - committed, emotional, warning - knows how much he burns for the work in the council, how much he burns for his home town of Königsdorf.

And he also understands why the 59-year-old now wants to say goodbye "after months of deliberation".

The work had recently "caught him more and more nervously," Hartl concedes in a phone call to our newspaper.

"After the sessions, I often couldn't sleep." Several episodes of shingles were the physical warning shots in the past year.

He must take it seriously.

His doctor strongly advised him to do so.

"In April I will be 60 years old, my health comes first."

Hartl is particularly concerned about the economic situation, especially what he sees as the community's looming debt.

"You know," he says, "as a municipal councilor I have always made the same decisions on financial matters as I would in my private life." In good times, he was happy to support large municipal investments such as the construction of a school building or the new town hall.

“Under Mayor Toni Demmel, we installed twelve million euros in one year.

But we had them in our wealth budget.” Now, however, after two years of the corona pandemic and the unforeseeable consequences of the war in Ukraine, times have become “much more difficult”.

When he thinks about the costs for the new gym and the renovation of the building yard, "it scares me".

Königsdorf: Mayor tried to persuade Hans Hartl to stay - but "it's time for a cut"

Mayor and party friend Rainer Kopnicky and employees of the municipal administration tried to change his mind in a lengthy conversation, says Hans Hartl.

But he sticks to his decision.

"It's time for a cut." There's still the work in his cold blood horse breeding, which he runs with his brother, and as a sacristan in St. Laurentius, which he has been doing for 29 years.

"I'm also on the hunting board and first chairman of the fire brigade association.

That's all a lot.

It's just time to slow down now, for the sake of my health."
